Please allow up to 2weeks for your order to be dispatched as we inoculate our dowels to order. This saves on wastage and ensures your order arrives in the best condition possible.

 Our inoculated dowels are made of hardwood, a preferred medium by most oyster mushroom varieties and longer lasting in outside conditions than softwood.

Oyster mushrooms are beginner friendly and easy to grown. Just drill holes in a fresh, hardwood log, soak in water for 24hours then plug the dowels in the holes, make sure your log doesn’t dry out and allow nature to take its course. Once fully inoculated, your oyster logs may produce fruit biannually up to 3 times a year autumn, winter and spring , in response to heavy rainfall for as long as 10 years.

Best results are achieved with larger diameter logs with 25 x plugs in a 50cm length of timber. Any hardwood is suitable including; cherry, birch, alder, chestnut, oak and willow to name a few.
